Happy New Year!
I hope that you all enjoyed the Christmas break, it went by so fast! I am looking forward to seeing all of the bright, shiny faces tomorrow morning.
Things were a little hectic before the break and unfortunately, we did not have a chance to officially complete our Christmas Carol unit. Before we left in December, the kids were given several choices for a culminating project in regards to the novel, and they were asked to start thinking about over the break. It is my hope that we will complete those by mid-week and then pick up the second unit of Wonders.
We are also going to start preparing for the Scrips Spelling Bee on January 22nd. The kids will be using Freckle to study spelling and vocabulary, they will also use the Quizlet, Kahoot, and Scrip websites to help them prepare. We will have one 6th grade representative and one alternate for the competition, contestants will be chosen next week. I will be sending information home with a list of words and some tips for studying.
Please let the kids know that Jaws had a wonderful Christmas break. He has returned to school and is looking forward to showing off his... BRAND NEW CAR! (I'll send pics tomorrow.)
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Have a wonderful evening, try not to be too sad about the Bears, there's always next year!
Blessings,
Michele Davis

Good Evening 6th Grade Parents,
I hope you are all enjoying the last few hours of this beautiful weekend.
This week in Language Arts, we will be finishing up the second chapter in our Wonders book and we will have a weekly assessment and a spelling test on Friday, Sept. 28th. The kids have been given a Wonder's printout that outlines all of the concepts and stories that we are working with this week. Our "Essential Question" for the week is: Why do people form alliances? I know....it sounds very Survivor-esque.... The kids will be reading stories and discussing why it is sometimes better to have a group of people working to solve a problem.
Congratulations to the girls volleyball team! They played an awesome game against the 5th grade girls. There is a lot of talent on the team and it was exciting to watch them play! Thank you to the coaches! You're doing a great job teaching them and developing their skills.
Have a great week!
God Bless,
Michele Davis

Hello 6th Grade Parents,
6th grade has been busy in ELA this week!
We are diving into the Wonders ELA series! The kids have received both Wonders textbooks, the literature book can be kept at home, the reading/writing book will travel from school to home as needed. This week our readings focused on the theme of "How new experiences give people new perspectives." The students should have brought home a paper outlining all the concepts that we are working on in addition to the spelling and vocabulary words. They will have a spelling test and chapter assessment next week on Tuesday, 9/18. All of the students have access to the Wonders website through ConnectEd and can practice their spelling and vocabulary words using the website games.
I hope that all of you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Blessings,
Michele Davis
